Park Hyatt Suite at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, a Luxury Hotel in Shinjuku

Made semi-famous by the sweet Sofia Coppola movie Lost in Translation, the Park Hyatt Tokyo is one of the city's best hotels and is among my all-time world favorites. Like most Park Hyatts we've stayed in (the Park Hyatt Mendoza being the lone exception), the Park Hyatt Tokyo is modern, sleek, and tastefully decorated.

The hotel has beautiful views and is so high up that you feel quite detached from the hustle and bustle of the city below. Like many other Tokyo hotels, the Park Hyatt Tokyo takes residence atop a larger building (in this case, the hotel takes up the top 14 floors of a 52-floor building).

Artwork and books are scattered throughout the common areas, and all rooms have original art pieces as well.

We were celebrating our honeymoon, so Jer got us upgrade from a regular room to a Park Suite. It was massive, spotlessly clean, and super comfortable.

The Park Suite had a massive bathroom with a soaking tub and shower with multiple shower heads— nice. I also appreciated the yoga mat and kimonos in the closet.

The hotel pool and gym area have insane views of Tokyo. You have to wear a swim cap to enter the water, which is super sexy on your honeymoon.

The hotel is a little removed from the action: it’s about a 15 minute walk to the nearest train station, and there are more parks and government buildings nearby than restaurants and bars. That being said, a free hotel shuttle runs constantly between the hotel and Shinjuku train station, and if you choose to walk you pass through a nice park.
